Busy weeks ahead

The next two weeks will be a very busy period with Boho Strings: on Thursday February 8th I’ll be conducting the ensemble at BOZAR in works by contemporary Moroccan composer Nabil Benabdeljalil. This concert is part of the festival Moussem Cities: Casablanca. I’ve conducted Nabil’s music in the past, but it’s a true privilege to dedicate entire program to his music, and to conduct two world premieres on this concert. I hope to see you at BOZAR!

Then right after we go into the studio with Boho Strings to record our very first CD for Antarctica Records: ‘Nostalgia’. This CD will combine all of the works for string orchestra by renowned Belgian composer Wim Henderickx, and these will in fact be all world premiere recordings!

When I approached Wim about the idea of recording these works, the composer immediately responded with great enthusiasm, as we both share an eclectic and adventurous approach to music making. Joining the ensemble will be three virtuoso soloists: flutist Valerie Debaele, marimba player Lin Chin Cheng, and clarinetist Roeland Hendrikx.

The CD will appear this coming Fall, with the official release concert on December 8th, 2018 in deSingel in Antwerp.
